A year ago, April 2008, Paths to Peoplehood devoted an issue to the "Israeli Diaspora", Israelis who live abroad but remain deeply connected to Israel. The articles we quoted discussed and described their engagement (or lack thereof) with local Jewish communities. A research commissioned by the NY Jewish Federation has found that they are more closely affiliated with local Jewish communities than had previously been assumed.

Professor Steven M. Cohen who conducted the research together with Dr. Judith Schor Veinstein stated that "Israelis with their Jewish knowledge, Hebrew, and attachment to Israel bring great potential".
